Summary/Abstract: The dynamically changing reality places high demands on people. Qualification requirements and competition in the labor market create a competitive atmosphere: there is an imbalance in the body-psyche-spirit area. The tradition of early Christianity and the Middle Ages, drawing on the thoughts of ancient Greece, shows an interesting approach to the subject of dietetics. In the spirituality of St. Benedict as well as St. Hildegard, we find a pattern of complementary treatment of man. An analysis of their works and their contemporary studies shows the sources from which modern treatment and health programs draw. The way shown by the Benedictine saints is an important path of a healthy spirituality of the contemporary Church. Integral treatment of man living in a balanced relationship to himself, nature and God, as shown in their writings and testimony of life, is a current and necessary message.
