THE ROLE OF THE PRIVATE MILITARY COMPANIES IN THE XXIST CENTURY BATTLE SPACE

Summary/Abstract: Modern battle space is in a permanent transformation due to social, economic, scientific and technological evolution. These aspects mainly changed the aproach of conducting military operations and diversified the actors on the battle space. The article argues how PMC changes the modern way of conducting military operations and threats faced by states as a legal manager of armed violence. Such transformation was particularly highlighted by the fall of the Iron Curten when the mass armies compriesed by conscripts became ineficient. This factor generate condition for a new actor on the security field – private military companies, that tend to substitute some of the state responsabilities on the war monopol and bussines.
