Pierre Fauchard – The father of the modern dentistry

Summary/Abstract: The artilcle represents the life, the work and the legacy of one of the most important persons in the history of dental medecine - Pierre Fauchard. He is today considererd as "the father" of modern dentistry for writing the first comleted scientific work in this field. Fauchard was exceptionally gifted practitioner and worked with the respect of the society and the support of the King of France. His text entitled "The dental surgeon" changes forever the world of dental medicine creating order out of chaos and establishing various scientific and moral concepts which are still valid today and form the foundations of this medical art. His work is translated in German and English language and the first volume was translated in Bulgarian this year.
