Summary/Abstract: The essay captures Metropolitan Bartolomeu in two hypostases: as officiant of the Divine Liturgy and as a preacher. He always attracted attention, first of all, by the solemnity of his presence, of his service and of his word, but also by the natural, unaltered, fearless, composed way in which he lived and interpreted every moment or event. He was not touched by routine and boredom, showing the ability to live intensely every second, every moment, as a gift from God and a chance to do a mission. During divine services, the liturgical rhythm was the same as the inner vibration, not imposed as something foreign, rigid, of „regular” nature, but sober, with a warm and inner nobility. On the other hand, Metropolitan Bartolomeu was an apostle-servant of his time. First, his word was generated in a liturgical context. Second, he was seen or discovered as a „charismatic preacher”, as a fine true artist of the word. And third, he was „an advocate for the people”. His speech was constantly filled with biblical arguements, with a preference for the present and personal application. Secondly, it is inspired and integrated in the liturgical area.
