Summary/Abstract: Erzählte Bilderbogen aus Ostgalizien by SALCIA LANDMANN is part of the autobiographic literature of the Eastern Jews who immigrated to the West. In this series of pictures the renowned expert in Jewish studies, who dedicated her work to the sunken language and culture of the Eastern Jewry, literarily constructs her birth city on the basis of transmitted memories and her own research. The analysis of this work reveals typical features of the Eastern Jewish memory literature and allows insights into the Jewish everyday life in the Galician multiethnic town, which proved to be formative for the author’s later writings.
