Brief data on the carcinological work of the scientist Mihai Băcescu

Summary/Abstract: By his contributions to the knowledge of the peracarid crustacean inventory (especially of the orders Mysidacea, Cumacea and Tanaidacea) of the World Ocean, the savant Mihai Băcescu places himself among the most remarkable carcinologists of the last century. His over 180 published papers (signed alone or in co-operation with specialists from Romania or other countries) are evidence in this respect, papers where he described 341 taxa new to science, 60 of them representing upper taxa (families, tribes, genera and subgenera), out of which: 131 mysidaceans, 105 cumaceans, 98 tanaidaceans, 5 isopods, and 2 copepods.
