Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the perception of the former multicultural industrial city of Łódź in the region itself (and beyond), how research on this topic looks like, and how one writes about it. The text focuses especially on the role of the German Studies in Łódź in process of rediscovering, in the last twenty years, the city’s German-Polish-Jewish past.
