Summary/Abstract: The article makes an attempt at reconstruction of a distinct research course in the German studies in Poland, focusing on Austrian literature. Apart from the significance of the image of Austria and the contemporary Austrian literature created in this way, the article discusses primarily the historical development of this research direction.
