Lexical phrasemes in colonial Mayan

Summary/Abstract: The use of phrasemes marks a native speaker’s speech style. The shared knowledge and meanings that inspire a community and its language reveal a particular character by means of phraseological units. Research of this area discloses us a kind of idiosyncratic via regia towards anthropo-linguistic knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to present some examples of these phrasemes, taken from an extensive repertoire of complex fixed expressions in the colonial Yucatec Maya. A linguistic analytical model is presented, customized for this research, based on the Meaning Text approach.
