Summary/Abstract: Dumitru Almaş was a journalist, professor and writer. He became known by publishing articles and feature reports in “Zorile” (The Dawns) and “Lumea Românească” (The Romanian World) newspapers, edited by Emil Socor and Zaharia Stancu, respectively. He was in turn a highschool teacher, then an Associate Professor and a Professor at the University of Bucharest, the “Spiru Haret” University and the Faculty of Archive Studies. He wrote historical novels, two of which received awards from the Romanian Writers’ Society and the Romanian State. He became increasingly popular by publishing historical stories, holding public conferences to a large variety of audiences (including children and professors, peasants or students), and conducting radio and TV broadcasts. Thus, Dumitru Almaş is recorded in the history of culture as a great personality of the late 20th century.
