Summary/Abstract: In this article, we consider the results of a qualitative study that reflects the digital culture of students as a component of their General cultural competence through the prism of digital cultural consumption of students, their activities outside of the educational institution, in particular, their preferences, habits and interests in terms of entertainment and social interaction. As a result of our research, we came to the conclusion that there is a need to take into account the features of digital culture and its links with educational activities. Despite the fact that information technologies are becoming more popular in society and integrated into the daily life of students, there are many advantages and disadvantages in the development of General cultural competence of students, which is why the results of the study, which are reflected in the article, encourage us to continue studying this issue at a more intelligent level.
