Summary/Abstract: The report presents the results of the project APVV-0281-11, which was implemented at the Faculty of Education of the University of Prešov in Prešov in the years 2017 – 2019, principal investigator was prof. PhDr. Iveta Kovalčíková. The aim of the project was, based on current knowledge of cognitive and pedagogical sciences, to develop and experimentally verify programs to stimulate the executive functions of a low performing student (at the end of the 1st stage of elementary school). Based on the cognitive analysis of tasks in the field of mathematics and Slovak language curriculum, taking into account the potential of tasks for use in stimulating the student‘s executive functions, two original cognitive domain-specific stimulation programs in the domain of mathematics and Slovak language were created and verified. The programs developed in the project are aimed at optimizing the quality / use of the range of operational memory, the quality of attention control, the quality of self-regulation and the cognitive planning of a low performing student. The effectiveness of the program on the quality of mathematical and language skills of a pupil was also monitored.
