Summary/Abstract: The contribution points to the importance of continuous development of society and literature. These two attributes are, of course, interconnected. The social macrospace (region, state) and microspace (especially in school) are characterized from a cultural point of view. The diversity of Slovak literature in the field of school themes is presented by parallels and confrontations with the novel of Peter Andruška. The novel is interpreted in detail, based on motifs that were characteristic for the difficult period in the history of Czechoslovakia (1967 – 1968). This actually combines the individual and with the social, past with present, but always stays valid. It points to various intricacies in the life of a small town, specifically of various human characters. In the background of the prototext, the spirit of this special period is evident, while the metatextcaptures the strange and the unique – even for today’s interesting coordinates of complex (living, moral, working, private) being in our state half a century ago.
