Summary/Abstract: The end of World War II and the establishment of the first Macedonian institutions brought with it the opportunity to freely express and write history, but also the obligation to research and constantly update the data. The exploration of the people‘s liberation movement in Macedonia during World War II and the Civil War in Greece were sensitive and fragile themes for the new Macedonian state. The first textbooks by Macedonian authors in the 1960s, in primary education, began to address the issue of the struggle of the Macedonian people in the Aegean part of Macedonia, but not the civil war. The situation is similar with the first textbooks in secondary education. The civil war in Greece is only mentioned in separate textbooks, and only appears in textbooks after 1991, or after the independence of the Republic of Macedonia. This paper will focus on the texts in history textbooks, their essence, the number of pages, pictures and photographs that appear in different textbooks from the mentioned periods.
