Summary/Abstract: The one whole line of Stevan Raickovic’s poetry deals with the themes of death, the transience of life, the direct connection between death and art, the relationship between the creator and its creation. Although pessimistic in many of his verses that have this intent, Raičković points to the importance of art and its power to leave something alive, even though it is in itself a “dead world”. Such significance, layered in the hidden semantic aspects of the relationship between poetry and the sculpture, creator, model and his work, is also found in the poem Conversation With The Loam. The analysis of this poem, using the structuralist method in this paper points to the communicative plane of the poem and the relationship of the two arts, intertwined in it. The relationship between the creator, model and his work in this poem was also analyzed in order to solve the problem of mimesis, the creation and the way of how a piece of art is created. Through a dialogue of literature and sculpture in the poem, Raičković pointed to the artistic act as something that is a commonplace and to the driving forces of creation (both thoughts and feelings) as ways of communicating with the world of ideas. Thus, with his particular poetic approach he perceived the mimesis and crossed several dimensions of human reality with the clear message that art has the power to transcend human mortality.
