Summary/Abstract: Social networks have changed significantly in the 21st century, affecting all fields from politics, media, business, and tourism to diplomacy. The working hypothesis of the article is that social networks, in particular Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms have had a significant impact on diplomatic practices and relations between states. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are used by foreign policy makers to communicate more easily with their counterparts, so that their messages reach more and more of the public opinion and to promote their language, culture and tourist destinations as a soft power tool.
