Summary/Abstract: Since the word war is still very frequently heard, I intend to show how liturgicaltheology has played a determinative role in shaping the Eastern response to war.My hope in making this case is that Western Christians will fi nd the Orthodoxexperience, and its moral theological appreciation of war, helpful in renewing ourunderstanding of authentically Christian responses to violent confl ict in today’sworld.
