Summary/Abstract: The end of the sixth century fi nds the still pagan nations of the British Isles preparedto receive the good news of the Gospel of Christ. The souls had been cleaned byholy men like Ninian, Patrick or David. From now begins the Age of great Christianmissions among the peoples of the archipelago. One of the missions started fromIreland, which now returns the gift of Christian faith, to the ones that had forgottenor had not heard of it yet, through Saint Columba - the apostle of the Gentiles innorthern England and Scotland. Meanwhile, Rome turned its attention back to Britain, this time through the head of the church, Saint Gregory the Great. He will toil alifetime, especially after he will become Pope of Rome, to fulfi l one of the dreamsof his youth – the Christianization of Anglo-Saxon people. The man who will be the“instrument” of this great work is Saint Augustine.
