Summary/Abstract: Educationalists use the term "traditional education" in the opposition against various models of teaching and specific, methodical solutions. Therefore the term has lost its lucidity and using it has become ineligible. The term "dominant teaching" is more suitable for context. There are three features of "dominant teaching": openness, becouse intrinsically it allows for new units of knowledge, no matter in what from; wholeness, becouse it is oriented on an ideal sum of information, abilities and values; positionality, becosue it aims at identifying a pupil's position towards dominant culture and at consolidating that position.
