ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT UNITED STATES SECURITY STRATEGY FROM THE DIME MODEL’S PERSPECTIVE

Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the current National Security Strategy of Trump administration must start from a brief history of all the US strategies, each emphasizing one of the four instruments of national power. The national interest leads to the formulation of a national strategy and to the calculation of the power needed to support this strategy. Decisions made at the international level are usually reflected in the usefulness of a state’s power tools. DIME model is an abstract, traditional classification of a state actor’s actions. In each strategy there are actions that belong to one of the four instruments of power (diplomatic, informational, military, economic) and which are approached either in a predominantly hard power, or predominantly soft power, or by creating a balance between the two, in depending on the purpose pursued by each state
