Summary/Abstract: After the natural setback in the 1950s, when the whole world was getting reconfigured over new alignments, the inter-war institutions have been partially redeemed, keeping however only those functions considered useful and harmless for the Communist dictatorships of Eastern Europe. This article proposes a comparative analysis of two eminently socialist cultural institutions and the implications of the ideological components involved in their functioning: the I.R.R.C.S. in Romania and the Committee for Foreign Friendship and Cultural Relations in Bulgaria.
