Summary/Abstract: Stećak, a form of a medieval tombstone, with secular and sacred motives, that mix together, is not mentioned and promoted enough in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pointing to the riches and endangerment of our cultural heritage, this paper's goal is to show the importance of these monuments as a hidden treasure of our homeland, and their protection, research and promotion. In the research that was conducted, that this paper is based upon, tourist agencies, from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, were included, as well as young people, ages 15 to 30. Through interviewing, data about awareness in young people on stećci was collected, as well as their meaning and significance. The results pointed to the unengagement of tourist agencies in promoting stećci as Bosnia and Herzegovina's cultural heritage, but also, on the unawareness of young people when it comes to this topic. The measures, that were suggested through this paper, should give awareness on the importance of stećci, as a historically important monuments, and the culture of the people that lived on this territory, that were forgoten over time.
