Summary/Abstract: While reading The Last Impression of Malek Haddad, we find ourselves challenged by the impact of the warin the main character’s process, reaching from war anxious observation to essential engagement awareness. The intellectual liberates and emancipates himself from conflicts, especially considering his humanist ideal. The lucidity of the main character, Saïd, suggests a saving approach of the conflict. The shy intellectual turns into a fighter. The conflict becomes a crucial element in the character development. It’s pushing back his limits to force him to lose his integration illusions. He understands the politics issues for his country, that is to say, independence and, in particular, the need for humanistic commitment to respect the man in his human capacity.
