Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the bond between conflict, memory and resistance in the texts of Fawzia Zouari and Scholastique Mukasonga. Through their narratives, Le Corps de ma mère (Zouari 2016) and La Femme aux pieds nus (Mukasonga 2008), this authors exhibit the figures of the mother. The background picture is made of conflicts (the male domination the Arabic world and the Rwandan genocide), but it also tries to establish a link between past and present, as the mother is the principle of transmission of a memory of the past. Both authors accomplish an act of resistance, through writing, by assigning the feminine subject the power of keeping its strength in a male world, on the one hand, or the power of keeping the family traditions intact in times of conflict, on the other.
