Summary/Abstract: The education system in the Federal Republic of Germany, both in terms of structure and organization and in terms of governance, is a complex system of correlations, competencies and authorities. The reasons for this are primarily historical, as a major factor in the development and current structure of education is the principle of federalism. The report examines its manifestation at the various levels of the German educational system.
