Summary/Abstract: This article is dedicated to an ecopoetical reading of Urszula Zajączkowska’s poetry, primarily focusing on trees appearing in poems from the volumes Atomy [Atoms] (2014) and minimum (2017). The main concern of the article is the poetic subject’s approach towards trees (and plants in general), their function and meaning in each of the texts. Two types of subject were discovered: the emotional subject and the scientist subject. As it turns out, they are constantly correlated, and thus show the significant place of trees in Zajączkowska’s poetry. Text analysis shows that in her poetry, forests fulfil a significant role – they allow escapism and at the same time are witnesses to the history of both humanity and a single person. A strong, nonanthropocentric conclusion was drawn from these texts – trees’ similarity to Homo sapiens.
