Summary/Abstract: The prevalence of minor physical anomalies was studied on a sample of 50 children with idiopathic visual impairment (CVI) (21 boys and 29 girls) aged from 7 to ]8. The comparative group comprised 246 healthy school children (123 boys and 123 girls). The number of minor anomalies found per child (WI ) and the sum of the weighted scores according to Waldrop (W2) was compared in healthy children and CVI. A greater number of minor anomalies was determined per child in the CVI group, in which there were 2l children (42.%) with 4 and more anomalies, and only 19 (7.7 %) in the group of healthy children. The high value of the sum of the weighted scores (W2) of 5 or more was determined in 13 CVI (26.%) and in none of the group of healthy children. Statistically significant differences were found between CVI and the healthy children in the mean value of the number of minor anomalies per child (W 1) and the sum of the weighted scores (W2). The mean value of the number of minor anomalies per child (W1) for CVI was 3.2 and for healthy children L7. The mean value of the sum of the weighted scores (W2) for CVI was 3.5 and for healthy children I .5. The results obtained indicate mutual etiological factors, which during early development in CVI lead to physical and visual impairment. Thus, the finding of a higher number of minor anomalies in the same child can serve as indication for more complex examinations with the object of prompt detection of basic development disturbance disorder.
