Summary/Abstract: The article presents the link between changes taking place in the contemporary world and those taking place in the language. The author examines poems by Różewicz and Krynicki in order to explain the reasons for implementing colloquial language in literature. The author believes that the use of colloquial vocabulary in literature is done purposefully. The poets exploit colloquialisms in order to mock contemporary language and by doing do they express their protest against the pervasion of vulgarisms into the language.
