The aim of the research is to examine the attitudes of the 5th and 9th grade students on democratization and modernization of the teaching process. The following research methods were used: theoretical analysis method and descriptive analytical survey method. Two questionnaires were used from the research instruments: The first questionnaire refers to the assessment of students on the democratization of teaching, the second questionnaire refers to the assessment of students about the modernization of teaching. The study involved 245 fifth and ninthgrade elementary school students from the Travnik municipality. Based on the results obtained, students 'grades on modernization and democratization of teaching are above average, and the results also show that there is a difference in the students' assessment of modernization and democratization of classes with regard to the class they attend.
