Summary/Abstract: Poland and Ukraine are two different examples of post‑communist countries in which democratization processes exhibit different pace, determinants and results. The main aim of this article is to define the theoretical basis of the democratic transformation processes in Poland and Ukraine. A comparative analysis of systemic changes in two neighboring countries has been made, regarding specific determinants influencing these processes. Article arose from the need to answer the question: What is the significance of the experience of Polish and Ukrainian systemic transformation for modern transitology.
