The culinary lexical regionalisms of Malopolska in the Polish dictionaries

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the way of describing the culinary lexical regionalisms of Malopolska in dictionaries of modern Polish. The main aim of this paper is to present and discuss the shortcomings of pragmatic, stylistic and semantic descriptions of thirty one regionalisms taken from seven lexicons. The most conspicuous errors discussed in this work are: the lack of the pragmatic label which informs of the territorially limited occurrence of a word, the label reg. assigned to words common for all regions, the inadequate explanations of the regionalisms and the lack of the regional meaning of the entry. The article also focuses on the problem of illustrating examples which contain regionalisms.
