Summary/Abstract: In ancient Egypt, performances inside and outside buildings are documented (open air, under canopies, in rooms). The article discusses the di erent acoustic conditions at the various per- formance venues. Within the scope of experimental music archaeology, the volume of replicas of musical instruments from ancient Egypt and modern equivalents was measured. This tech- nical approach in connection with iconographic, textual, and archaeological evidence provides a valuable, practice-oriented contribution to our knowledge of ancient Egypt and its music archaeology.
