Summary/Abstract: This article aims at explaining the veto players’ constellations in the history of Bulgarian constitutionalism. It delimits and explores the veto players established by the Tarnovo Constitution, as well as the 1947 and 1971 Constitutions. The analysis is done with regard to the distinct veto players and decision making procedures, as well as with a view to the models of constitutional monarchy and the Soviet type of People’s Republic as applied in Bulgaria. Finally, the article provides a comparative historical assessment of the veto players in Bulgarian constitutionalism. On the basis of this assessment general conclusions are drawn, pertaining to the possibility for change of the status quo and the development of power polycentrism.
