Summary/Abstract: In the European area of justice, the harmonization of the rules on the conflict of laws, jurisdiction, applicable law, mutual recognition and enforcement of succession judgments and the creation of a European Certificate of Succession has been achieved by adopting Regulation (EU) no. 650/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012, which applies to all successions opened after 17.08.2015. In practice, the application of the regulation proves to be an effective tool, which is applied with priority in the field of international successions, and which has its own rules of interpretation and application.
