Summary/Abstract: In accordance with the assumptions underlying the ethnic policy of the Polish state, national and ethnic minorities are promised the ability to maintain their ethnic distinction, keep and develop their respective mother tongues, as well as exercise the full scope of civil rights. The German minority, having the largest number of organizations of all minorities in Poland, participates actively in the realization of these assumptions. The basic aim of this article was an attempt to describe the organizations of the German minority (particularly taking into consideration the Social-Cultural Society of Germans in Opole Silesia) in terms of the ethnic policy of the Third Polish Republic. Research tools and methods used include the historical, comparative and statistical methods, source study (including the Internet) and literature review.
