Summary/Abstract: After the civil war waged between Serbian supreme prince Mutimir and his brothers Strojimir and Gojnik, prince Mutimir was victorious. Princes Strojimir and Gojnik with their families were banished to Bulgaria, apart from Gojnik's son Petar. The paper indicates that the offence of infidelity should have resulted in the banish- ment of Petar and his family, too. Likewise, it is shown that the reason for Petar's re- tention in Serbia could not have been his minor age, guilt, or the fact he was held hostage. However, he was confined by prince Mutimir and his freedom of movement was restricted. The reason for his retention could have been only political and not le- gal. Which reason it was is impossible to determine.
