Summary/Abstract: Strabon's description of the Istros-Danube in his Geography (4. 6. 10; 7. 5) updates in the Augustan period the geographical tradition of the description of this river. The contradictions between the necessities of the geographical schematization and those of the integration of new sources explain part of the geographical errors of this part of the work.
