Summary/Abstract: There are two parallel ways nowadays, which decides of the background of social research – on one hand we have new methods and techniques associated with the technological development, on the other we can introduce new areas of research related to the idea of civil society. Public decisions are more often made on the basis of public consultations – sometimes they have simple forms, but sometimes use some kind of methodological innovation (such as deliberative polls, Delphi groups, etc.). Such studies combine the possibility of practical application of research results and scientific recognition of the social processes and dynamics. Preparing public consultations innovative researches use elements of classical methodology (surveys, interviews, observations), but put them in a slightly different context. That changes the nature of the procedures – f.e. conducting research become all day event, an increasing number of people participating in the discussion, new recruitment strategy. The problem, which in our opinion is becoming popular and offers great opportunities to use different methods and techniques is public consultations. Public consultations are a required element in making decisions related to the implementation of major investment and major decision-making in local communities. In this paper we present our experience with this type of research, for diagnosis expert reasoning power to change attitudes towards energy investment, which is expected to rise in Lubuskie. Survey research project called “persuasive survey”. Our attention will focus on the presentation of the desirability of this type of conduct, the description of test procedures (including all stages of the research process) and evaluation of the project.
