Summary/Abstract: Health and its Social, Economic and Environmental Determinants: Theoretical and Empirical Overview. The health of individuals is an irreplaceable value that is difficult to measure in certain respects. The present article provides the reader with a multifaceted view of the theoretical and methodological issues of health and health status. The core of this article is a discussion of the broader theoretical context of health, as well as the ways in which health is conceptualized, operationalized and measured. Special attention is paid to the distinction between objective and subjective measurement of health and the concept of subjective health (self-assessed) status. It also presents studies on the social, economic and environmental determinants of health.Sociológia 2021, Vol. 53 (No. 2: 119-146)
