Summary/Abstract: The most recent researches have proved the fact that SMEs are rapidly adopting the new technologies such as the internet and the E-Commerce. Despite this fact, there are only few systematic researches concerning the way the SMEs adopt the web 2.0 instruments. Our current research proposes a stage model for the integration of IT&C tools by the small and medium sized enterprises. The quantitative and qualitative data was obtained by semi-structured interviews conducted with top management representatives of SMEs from Dolj County, and by by analyzing the websites of a representative sample of enterprises from the same region. By correlating the results we have defined the different specific stages of the integration process of the new IT&C tools by the SMEs in Dolj, Romania.
