Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to address the concept of integrity in public office but also the implications of its lack, often embodied in negative externalities, felt throughout society. Lack of integrity and, further, corruption, as a direct result of it, is a burden borne directly by each of the citizens of a country, its costs being estimated at over 38 billion euros in the case of Romania. Consequently, strengthening integrity in the public service will also lead to the minimization of corruption, an issue pursued by a set of principles, transposed into laws and procedures by which society ensures that it will stop corruption perceived as a drain of collective well-being towards deprived people. of principles and scruples.
