Summary/Abstract: The use of knowledge in the contemporary dynamic economy is essential. It might mean not only decisive competitive advantage for an entrepreneur, but also one´s business success or a failure. The main objective of the paper is to underline the importance of knowledge in actual economic process from the perspective of concepts that influenced the history of economic thought and still have a strong impact on the economic thought and economic behaviour of entrepreneurs and individuals. As the main method of research, we use critical and selective literature review comparison between the Neoclassical economics on one side and the Austrian economics on the other side. The paper underlines the fundamental entrepreneurial-inventor role of the market. It argues this role might contribute to improving knowledge on the crucial importance of entrepreneurship in the contemporary economy.
