Summary/Abstract: Sources / This article attempts to make a more complete and critical research into one of the most interesting family memorials from the second half of the XIII century. The note taken down by the Svarlig literary man Voisil Grammatick, has kept throughout the years original data about Bulgaria’s political history during the Civil War in years 1277-1279. Although it has been examined by many researchers now a closer analytic research is being made. This research stresses on some more essential aspects of this historical source, that have not been scrutinized at this point. Moreover it corrects several inexactnesses in the interpretation of the memorial. The first time a comparison is made between the Svarlig marginal note and the story of Georgi Pahimer, the actual source of these events. According to this it is considered that the assimilated understandings about the identity of Ivailo and Lahana and the siege of Tarnowo by the Romeis are groundless. Historiography proves that the current interpretation of this memorial is proposed by the Czech researcher Konstantin Irechek in 1876 and is unsubstantiated yet. In conclusion, this research does not underestimate the importance of the Svarlig marginal note as a historical source concerning the political events in the 70s in XIII century, but shows new points of importance and encourages new terms of reference in further research.
