Summary/Abstract: Subject: Social status, significance, function, role and historical evolution of traditional music instruments among East African communities in general and selected aerophones (solo and ensemble). Purpose of study: To study the abundant types of traditional music instruments, especially aerophones occuring in the music cultures of East Africa and to suggest a few methods of research approach and musical analysis. Methods: Historical, descriptive, analysis of musical transcriptions.
