Summary/Abstract: The Christology confessed by the Lutheran symbols of faith and, in particular, by “the Formula of Concord” (1577) and its appendix, “Catalogus testimoniorum” ..., is one faithful to the third and fourth Ecumenical Councils and, especially to the teaching about the Savior‟s person, as it is articulated by St. Cyril of Alexandria. Thus, if in the teaching about subjective salvation, the evangelical-Lutheran “Confession of Faith” (Bekenntnisschriften) from the sixth century is, ina great extent tributary to St. Augustine, concerning Christology and the teaching on objective salvation, they are situated in the descent of the theological reflection of St. Cyril of Alexandria. Thus understood, as oscillation and synthesis of the two major theological discourses of the fifth century, St. Cyril and St. Augustine, the evangelical-Lutheran theology is revealed to us in a new light, as a theological universe nearer to the Christian east than it was believed in the area of the dogmatic and symbolic Orthodox theology
