Summary/Abstract: Housing, associated in the speciality literature with the human habitat, is a dynamic process within the geographical environment circumscribed to human existence, which is able to harness the potential of the environment and transform it, conferring distinct morphological structural features to the settlements as a result of continuous adaptation to new historical contexts and human needs. The dwelling, as a process, takes place in thespace of interference between the physical environment, governed by natural laws, and the social one, under the influence of anthropic factors. Given this reality, the article aims to capitalize on information gathered from different sources (bibliographic, statistical, cartographic, terrain) in order to identify the factors associated with the two environments, natural and anthropic, that have exercised over time an influence on the settlement and describe the results of their influence. The description of the influence of natural factors on the dwelling involved the correlation of the specific geographical features of the environmental components in the analyzed territory with the elements, processes, forms that appeared with in the living space as a result of these determinations. The contribution of the anthropic factors is underlined by presenting the aspects that reflect the time planning of the territory for living: the structure of the living space; the specificity of residential areas; the characteristics of the housing stock; the presence and accessibility of the utilities in the territory of Rădăuți.
