Summary/Abstract: Fire was a constant imminent danger, not only for the Transylvanian communities, but for others as well; this article brings forward the way in which the neighborhoods of Sibiu, a model of social organization documented in Transylvania since the fifteenth century, were involved in fire prevention and firefighting by introducing rules and fines into their statutes of organization.
