Summary/Abstract: In the present article, authors deal with the topic of regional identity in connection with the state of material cultural heritage in the borderlands area of the Czech Republic. The researchers focus on the influence of regional identity (the outcome of the mutual social interaction of an individual and society in a certain area) on the level of care/ conservation of the cultural heritage of the chosen region. As the objects of material cultural heritage rectories (religious profane structures) were chosen because of their multifunctional use in the past and nowadays. Rectories had possible identifying importance for the inhabitants of the region. The research was carried out in the Pilsen and South Bohemian regions in the period 2016–2018. A qualitative scientific approach was used, namely observation techniques, such as mapping of rectories, and semi-structured interviews with property owners and local residents.of Oslo.
