Summary/Abstract: This article points to significant similarities betweenthe political postulates of the contemporary Marxist Hegelian philosophy represented by Axel Honnethand his commentators with the assumptions and postulates of economic policy made by the supportersof the modern monetary theory, in particular with the narrative presented by Bill Mitchell. Neo-Hegeliandemands for freedom and social equality, as well asthe slogans of progressive economic policy presented by the MMT economists are confronted with seriousdifficulties in the face of the economic dynamics of capitalism. Both trends, however, share the tendencies and the belief in the possibility of using the market for social needs, which logically implies the postulate of transforming capitalism into one of the forms of market socialism.
