Summary/Abstract: In this paper we present some aspects regarding the Romanian translation of the memoirs of General Eduard Fischer. In the Romanian texts, he appears as a sinister, cruel figure, as a tyrant without any scruples. But in Austrian war chronicles, published during World War I and the interwar period, Fischer is described as a personality with heroic and dignified behaviour. Using a corpus of Romanian and German texts about Fischer, we showed that the documentary value of his war memoirs is enhanced if the subtext is considered and an inter-textual analysis is made. Memories can also be used as hypertext, if certain keywords or phrases are identified, which can be used as hyperlinks leading to interesting research topics.
